Healthy relationships require regular attention to flourish.
Being a follower of Christ is a lifelong relationship. No relationship will sustain if it doesn't receive regular attention. Here we have outlined various ways believers can spend time with Jesus and continue their personal spiritual maturity.
The best way to get to know God is to read His Word, the Bible. The Bible was written by God and is our guide to life. It contains encouragement, correction, hope, and knowledge. Spending time in the Word can be accomplished by reading the Bible directly or following a Bible Study or devotional.

Spend time throughout your day connecting with God through prayer. This is a personal relationship with Jesus, not a religion.
Get plugged in and regularly attend a local church. Fellowship with other believers will provide you with opportunities to grow in your walk with Christ as well as give you encouragement and support.
By sharing what God has done in your life with others it not only encourages them to personally experience Christ themselves, but also strengthens your own faith.
Life is hard and full of challenges. A relationship with Jesus does not mean you will no longer endure hardships. Jesus tells us directly that we will face times of temptation:
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Remember you are on the winning team.

You will make mistakes. Being a follower of Christ means Satan will do what he can to distract and deter you from Christ. Thankfully, Christ has fresh mercy for us daily and will continue to forgive our confessed sins.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
1 John 1:9

Have you made a commitment to follow Christ?
We would love to hear your story.
If you haven't made that commitment, but want to know more, we'd love to hear from you as well.

ENDURING WORD COMMENTARY
As mentioned above, spending time in the Word is essential to understanding and knowing God. He will absolutely send His Spirit to guide you in your time in the Word, but He has also greatly blessed individuals on earth to help fellow believers understand the Word and grow in it successfully. These are found in Bible commentaries. An excellent and free commentary comes from Pastor David Guzik. It is available online and in an app. Guzik is sampled often and he has commentary on every book, chapter, and verse of the Bible.
